General Idea Teaser Cards (2009)
Leading up to the Art Gallery of York University 2009 exhibition recreating two of General Idea's exhibitions at the Carmen Lamanna Gallery in Toronto from 1975 and 1977, we developed a teaser campaign and mailed out three announcements. The back of the first mimicked one of Carmen Lamannna's archival photographs, overloaded with information and credits, stamped and with pasted IBM Selectric text. The second was the invitation from 1975 with its back having the contemporary appearance of FILE Megazine. The reverse of the third (fictionally) announced the recreation of The 1984 Miss General Idea Pavaillion in the look of FILE of a few years later. (Design by Michael Maranda.)
